The London Mathematical Society is on the South side of Russell Square at No 57-58. Russell Square is the Olympic Media Transport Hub and is also on the Olympic Route Network (ORN).
The Media Transport Hub will be in place from mid July to mid August (exact dates unknown at the time of writing) and will be a pick up and drop off point for some 5000 journalists covering the Games. As a result, Russell Square will be closed to all non-Olympic traffic for this period. Pedestrian access will be maintained but visitors to DMH should expect the area to be very congested.
The Olympic Route Network will be in place for a similar period of time and covers Southampton Row as well as Russell Square. There will be further road closures in the surrounding area.
A map showing road closures can be found here.
Public Transport
Severe disruption is expected across the London transport network with local hotspots including Euston, St Pancras, King’s Cross, Holborn and Tottenham Court Road. The Jubilee and Central lines will also be more congested as they are key routes to the Olympic Park. It is important to note that every day will be different in terms of road closures and congestion, reflecting the various events and venues in use. It is anticipated that Tube and DLR services will run 60 minutes later than normal on all days. There may also be station closures at peak times.
