| Computer Science Committee | Promotes the development of links between mathematics and computer science.This Committee also awards Scheme 7 grants. |
| Education Committee | Organises Popular Lectures (and sells DVDs & Videos of them) and Holgate Lectures, gives small grants, and lobbies for improvement in mathematical education. This Committee also nominates members for the Cecil King Prize Committee. |
| International Affairs Committee | Advises Council on matters relating to the Society's links with mathematical societies and organisations overseas, including the IMU, ICMI, ICIAM and the European Mathematical Society, and their Congresses. |
| Mathematics Promotion Unit | The Mathematics Promotion Unit: aims to raise the profile of mathematics in the public arena, dealing with press queries, publicity for mathematics, networking with other mathematics organisations and interested external groups. |
| Prizes Committee | Makes recommendations to Council for the award of Society Prizes and the Hardy Fellowship. |
| Programme Committee | Gives grants for conferences, visitors, joint research groups, collaborative small grants and international short visits. This Committee also organises Society Meetings and Invited Lectures. |
| Publications Committee | Oversees the publishing activites of the Society. |
| Research Meetings Committee | Organises Durham Symposia, LMS Reserach Workshops, and instructional short courses. |
| Research Policy Committee | Responsible to council for developing the Society’s policies relating to mathematics research, monitoring developments affecting the health of mathematics research, leading on activities and submissions to inform and influence public policy in respect of mathematics research, and working with CMS and other bodies on related matters. |
| Women in Mathematics Committee | Organises events such as the Mary Cartwright lecture, gives small grants, monitors and promotes the role of women in mathematics. |
