The Committee supports three types of activities:

• Durham Symposia
• LMS Research Workshops
• Short Instructional Courses

Terms of Reference
The Committee is responsible for the encouragement and development of meetings on mathematical research, and particularly for the assessment and, where appropriate, the funding, of:

(a) the LMS Durham Symposia;
(b) LMS Workshops and similar smaller symposia.

The Committee is also responsible, on behalf of Council, for the management of the contract with the EPSRC to provide short instructional courses for postgraduate students

Dates of Meetings
The Committee meets three times a year: March/April, September and December.

Activities
On behalf of EPSRC, the Committee assesses applications to organise Durham Symposia.

The Committee awards grants to contribute towards the costs of running Research Workshops.

The Committee assesses applications to organise LMS-EPSRC Short Instructional Courses for postgraduates.
