The Proceedings, Journal and Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, which have long been among the world's leading mathematical research journals, are now joined by a fourth sibling: the Transactions of the London Mathematical Society, launched in March 2013. Read the Launch Statement.
The Transactions is a new fully open access online journal that covers the same subjects as the Bulletin, Journal and Proceedings. All four journals share the same Editorial Advisory Board and the same standard of peer review. The Bulletin, Journal and Proceedings are hybrid journals, meaning that they have standard subscription access as default (with the initial 6 months free), and a permanent open access option.
A paper should be submitted directly to one of the journals. The Bulletin, Journal and Proceedings have submission criteria based on the length of the paper. Longer papers are considered by the Proceedings, and those of medium length by the Journal. The Bulletin publishes short research papers and has occasional surveys and research-expository papers, and obituaries. It also has a book reviews section providing a comprehensive coverage of research texts across the whole of mathematics and statistics. The Transactions has no page length criteria for submissions.
The Proceedings appears monthly, whereas the Journal and Bulletin appear bimonthly. The Transactions is published online as one annual volume. The Proceedings has been published since the Society's foundation in 1865 and is now in its Third Series. The Journal was founded in 1926 and is in its Second Series. The Bulletin, still in its First Series, was founded in 1969. The subject coverage of the LMS journals ranges across a broad spectrum of mathematics, covering the whole of pure mathematics together with some more applied areas of analysis, mathematical physics, theoretical computer science, probability and statistics. The current Editorial Board reflects predominantly pure interests, but the Society wishes to encourage a spread to more applicable areas.

The Proceedings, Journal and Bulletin are available to members of the London Mathematical Society at special rates, on the understanding that they are for the personal use of members, not for libraries. Journal of TopologySince January 2008, the new Journal of Topology publishes papers of high quality and significance in topology, geometry and adjacent areas of mathematics. Interesting, important and often unexpected links connect topology and geometry with many other parts of mathematics, and the Editors welcome submissions on exciting new advances concerning such links, as well as those in the core subject areas of the journal. LMS Journal of Computation and MathematicsThe LMS Journal of Computation and Mathematics is an electronic-only open access resource that publishes papers on the computational aspects of mathematics, mathematical aspects of computation, and papers in mathematics which benefit from being published electronically. Rapid time to publication ensures that readers are kept abreast of ground-breaking developments. The journal has a separate Editorial Board, and is refereed to the same high standard as all LMS journals. Since 2010 the journal is web-hosted by Cambridge University Press, including the archive dating back to 1998. The LMS is committed to keeping the journal archived into the indefinite future. |

MathematikaSince 2010 the Society is publishing the journal Mathematika on behalf of its owner University College London. The first issue of volume 56 appeared in January 2010. Mathematika publishes both pure and applied mathematical articles and has done so continuously since its founding by Harold Davenport in the 1950s. Before 2010, it had not been published online, but now all articles, including the full archive dating back to 1954, are available electronically via Cambridge Journals Online. Submissions. The Editors welcome submissions to Mathematika via the submissions web page (www.lms.ac.uk/content/mtk-submit). The traditional emphasis has been towards the purer side of mathematics, but applied mathematics and articles addressing both aspects are equally welcome. |

NonlinearityIn collaboration with the Institute of Physics, the LMS publishes Nonlinearity (established 1989), which is available in an online version for subscribers. Aimed primarily at mathematicians and physicists interested in research on nonlinear phenomena, the journal's coverage ranges from proofs of important theorems to papers presenting ideas, conjectures and numerical or physical experiments of significant physical and mathematical interest. Nonlinearity is available to members of the London Mathematical Society at special rates, on the understanding that it is for the personal use of members, not for libraries. Compositio MathematicaThe Society publishes Compositio Mathematica on behalf of the Foundation that owns the journal. Submissions and peer review are managed from the Editorial offices in the Netherlands and the production process is managed through the LMS offices in De Morgan House. Typesetting is provided by Sunrise Setting of Torquay and distribution and marketing is the responsibility of Cambridge University Press. Prices for subscriptions to the 2004 volume were a third less than those for the 2003 volumes published by Kluwer. Since then, the increase in prices have been very modest and negative in one case. We have kept to the original intention that the price reduction would not be a one-off introductory offer, and this is a permanent change to a lower pricing policy. Translations
The London Mathematical Society co-publishes four translated journals: Russian Mathematical Surveys, Izvestiya: Mathematics and Sbornik: Mathematics (jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences and Turpion Ltd), as well as Transactions of the Moscow Mathematical Society (jointly with the American Mathematical Society).

Russian Mathematical Surveysis the English translation of the Russian bimonthly journal Uspekhi Matematicheskikh Nauk, founded in 1936. The survey articles on current trends in mathematics are generally written by leading experts in the field at the request of the Editorial Board. The Russian original is rigorously refereed within the Russian Academy of Sciences and the translations are carefully scrutinised and edited by the London Mathematical Society. Russian Mathematical Surveys is a high-prestige journal covering a wide area of mathematics. It is designed for postgraduate students, research fellows, postdoctoral workers, lecturers and researchers across many branches of mathematics, mechanics, and mathematical physics. Until the end of 1997, Surveys was published jointly by the London Mathematical Society and the British Library. Since 1998, Surveys has been published jointly by the London Mathematical Society, Turpion Ltd, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The English language version is a cover-to-cover translation of all the material, containing survey articles, the Communications of the Moscow Mathematical Society, and biographical material. |

Izvestiya: Mathematicsis the English edition of the Russian bimonthly journal Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk, Seriya Matematicheskaya, founded in 1937. The journal publishes only original research papers containing full results in the author's field of study. Izvestiya: Mathematics covers all fields of mathematics, but special attention is given to Algebra, Mathematical Logic, Number Theory, Mathematical Analysis, Geometry, Topology, Function Theory and Differential Equations. It is designed for researchers and postdoctoral workers specialising in these branches of mathematics and related sciences. Since the beginning of 1995 Izvestiya: Mathematics has been published in London jointly by the London Mathematical Society, Turpion Ltd, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. |

Sbornik: Mathematicsis the English edition of the Russian monthly journal Matematicheskii Sbornik. This is the oldest Russian mathematical journal — in publication since 1866. The journal publishes research papers keeping pace with modern trends in contemporary mathematics. Sbornik: Mathematics has always maintained the highest scientific levels in a wide area of mathematics with special attention to current development in Mathematical Analysis, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, Geometry, Algebra and Functional Analysis. It is designed for researchers in these domains of mathematics and related sciences. Since the beginning of 1995 Sbornik: Mathematics has been published in London jointly by the London Mathematical Society, Turpion Ltd, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Sbornik: Mathematics is published bimonthly, each issue being made up of two issues of Matematicheskii Sbornik translated into English. |

Transactions of the Moscow Mathematical Society,a translation of Trudy Moskovskogo Matematicheskogo Obshchestva, contains the results of original research in pure mathematics. It is published by the LMS in collaboration with the American Mathematical Society. |
