Submission of Papers

Link to Journal of Topology
Journal of Topology

This is the page for submitting your paper to the new LMS journal, the Journal of Topology. The journal publishes papers of high quality and significance in topology, geometry and adjacent areas of mathematics. Interesting, important and often unexpected links connect topology and geometry with many other parts of mathematics, and the editors welcome submissions on exciting new advances concerning such links, as well as those in the core subject areas of the journal.

Submitting your paper

You may submit a paper electronically as a single Postscript or PDF file as an attachment to an email. Please chose a simple alphanumeric filename that is between 5 and 10 characters long in the body of the filename with no gaps or symbols, e.g. virt3.pdf or hom65jones.ps and keep the .tex file that precisely corresponds to the .PS or .PDF version that you have submitted but do not send the .tex file at this time.

Please include in the email sent to jtop@lms.ac.uk the following information:

  • as corresponding author, your name, affiliation, and country in which you work together with your permanent email address;
  • the same details for each of your co-authors. Should the paper be accepted, we may need to contact each individually to confirm copyright assignment;
  • the name of the Editor whose mathematical interests are closest to the subject of your paper. If you are not sure, please nominate the Managing Editor, Ulrike Tillmann, who may forward your paper to another Editor.
  • You will be sent an acknowledgement, usually within a week, once we have confirmed your file is printable. In all other respects, for advice on submitting a paper, please follow the General Submission Guidelines below.

    Revised version

    If you are submitting a revised version of your paper, please send the same details as above and include the following additional information:

    If you wish, you may use the LMS class file which, if the paper is accepted, will make it easier to compare the proofs with your version; see further down this page for details on how to obtain the class file.

    If you have received a letter that firmly rejects your paper and does not mention that a resubmission would be considered, you are advised to submit any revision of your paper to another journal.

    If you have a problem in submitting a paper or you do not receive an acknowledgement, please first check that our email (sent on behalf of jtop@lms.ac.uk) is not being blocked by your spam filter which is the most common fault. Then send a brief e-mail to the Publisher, Susan Hezlet, at hezlet@lms.ac.uk, describing the problem.

    * LMS CLASS FILE *

    Authors may prepare their manuscripts in the new "LMS" document class for LaTeX2e. The class file and its accompanying, concise author guide can be downloaded here.

    Please remember that only PDF or Postscript formats should be submitted electronically in the first instance. Even if you have prepared your paper using our class file, we do not want to receive the .tex files unless and until the paper has been finally accepted for publication by the Editors.

    Please read the Instructions for Authors for further information.
