Title: Dynamics and rigidity of surface flows

Abstract: Flows on surfaces provide one of the fundamental examples of dynamical systems in low dimension and have been studied since the seminal work by Poincaré at the birth of the field. We will survey some recent advances in the study of flows on surfaces, in particular on the fine chaotic (ergodic and spectral) properties of area-preserving flows on compact surfaces as well as their extensions, and recent breakthroughs on linearization and rigidity questions in higher genus.

Programme:

16:45-17:00 Society Meeting - (Rutherford Lecture Theatre)
17:00-18:00 Corinna Ulcigrai (Universität Zürich) - (Rutherford Lecture Theatre)
18:00-19:00 Reception - (Alan Turing Building)

Registration:

Registration for the 2024 BMC is now open. Registration covers tea and coffee breaks, lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the casual conference dinner on Tuesday.

The early bird registration fee is £85. This rate will be available until February 29th.
