LMS Northern Regional Meeting 2026
This event will consist of an LMS Northern Regional Meeting on Monday 14th September 2026, followed by a workshop from Tuesday 15th - Wednesday 16th September 2026. The topic of the meeting and workshop will be Applied Algebra and Geometry
The field of Applied Algebra and Geometry serves as a vital bridge between pure mathematical theory — including commutative algebra, representation theory, and algebraic topology — and transformative real-world applications in data science, cryptography, and systems biology.
This three-day event will include the LMS Northern Regional Meeting 2026 and the 25th meeting of the Applied Algebra and Geometry Research Network (AAG). The workshop is funded by the LMS and the University of York.
The lectures at the Regional Meeting on 14 September will be aimed at a general mathematical audience. All interested, both LMS members and non-members, are most welcome to attend this event.

15:00-16:00: ECR session (2 × 25 min talks)
16:00-17:00: Reidun Twarock (University of York)
17:00-20:00: Reception and society dinner
Opportunity for Early Career Researchers:
Early career researchers are encouraged to propose a talk in the general area of Applied Algebra and Geometry. You can indicate your interest via the registration form here.

Travel Funding for Research Students and LMS Members
There are funds available to contribute in part to the expenses of members of the London Mathematical Society or research students registered at UK universities to attend the meeting and workshop.
