The London Mathematical Society (LMS) congratulates Professor Sir Timothy Gowers FRS on his award of the the Royal Society Sylvester Medal. The medal is awarded 'for the encouragement of mathematical research'. Professor Gowers will receive the medal at the Royal Society's Anniversary Day in November 2016. Professor Gowers is also the recipient of this year's LMS De Morgan Medal. More information about the Sylvester Medal is available here
