Each year the LMS Education Committee runs two workshops on mathematics communication, which are led by experienced mathematics communicators. These are interactive training sessions, covering the skills and techniques required to communicate maths effectively. The organisers also share their expertise in delivering interactive and engaging sessions in an online format.
There are usually two workshops, one at a beginners level and the other at an advanced level. The beginners sessions focus on what is needed to get started in communicating maths to different audiences, and the advanced sessions will look at how to build on and improve your existing skills.
The workshops are open to anyone who participates in, or wants to participate in, public engagement and communication activities in maths. You’ll have the chance to hear and share advice, discuss the principles behind good engagement, and develop and deliver your own interactive online demonstration.
Participants are expected to attend both sessions of the workshop and there is usually a task to complete between the sessions which will involve a commitment of two or three hours.
The next Mathematics Communication Workshops will be held in June 2023 and details are available here.
