Black Holes: A Mathematical Enlightenment
Abstract: Black holes are important objects in our understanding of the universe and fundamental in the modern study of physics.
In this lecture we will explore how mathematics has enlightened the road to the understanding of black holes, from their very conception, through the discovery of their surprising geometric properties, till the more recent comprehension of their dynamics.
Registration: Please register using this form by 11.00am (CEST) on Monday 11 July. The Zoom link will be circulated by email after the deadline for registration closes.
Short biography of Elena Giorgi: Elena Giorgi is an Assistant Professor at Columbia University. Before that, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Gravity Initiative at Princeton University. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics at Columbia University in 2019. Her field of research is General Relativity and hyperbolic PDEs.
