The Women in Mathematics Committee annually invites individuals or groups to express interest in organising a Diversity in Mathematics event. Diversity in Mathematics events support aspects of diversity beyond gender. One such day will be supported each year. Each annual event is expected to focus on some aspect of diversity in the Mathematical Sciences. The event is expected to feature both the work of people in the Mathematical Sciences, whether in industry or academia, who come from that diversity group, and also offer opportunities for mathematicians from that diversity group to receive mentoring, and networking opportunities. The event will be funded at a rate of up to £3000.
The call for expressions of interest in hosting an event in academic year 2020-21 is now closed.
Diversity in Mathematics Event – Schools
For the first time the LMS Women in Mathematics Committee will support a Diversity in Mathematics event in schools. One such day will be supported each year to the value of £500. The committee is particularly interested in funding events that encourage racially diverse students to become more involved in mathematics. Events should be aimed at school students up to and including A-level or equivalent.
The call for expressions of interest in hosting an event in the academic year 2020-21 is now closed.
